On a firm
belief in non-conventional energy, Empee
Group set up wind turbine generators in
Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu which generates power
not only for captive consumption but also
for supply to the State grid.
Now, the Company has obtained
the Government's approval for setting up
a power plant, attached to the sugar mill
complex with Bagasse as fuel. The plant
is engineered in such a way that it can
operate with bagasse as well as other Biomass
for fuel. |

Taking advantage of importance accorded
to biomass based co-generation power plants
by the government of Tamil Nadu, the Group
has drawn up plans to set up 3 such Power
Plants with 7.5 - 10 MW capacity in different
locations in Tamil Nadu.
PPA and Financial closure are completed
for the Pudukkotai project and is expected
to commence by August 2007. Next unit in
Perambaluris due to commission by September
2008.

The Group has proposed to encash the government's
offer to allot wastelands for the integrated
cultivation & development of Julia flora
(biomass) as backward integration for fuel
logistics.Orders for all Machineries &
equipments have been placed with reputed
suppliers. The entire power generated out
of these plants will be supplied to the
State grid.
Since all the projects come under renewable
energy initiatives. They will qualify for
carbon credits (CER) under the Kyoto Protocol
agreements of United Nations.

pursuing wind based project in the states
of Kerala & Karnataka.The company is
actively pursuing emerging technologies
in the renewable sector – Thin Film
Photo Voltaic cells and Hybrid Technology
for the conversion of Solar Energy to power
in the domestic sector.
